Summer Internship Overview
Not your typical internship! Work in a dynamic, young environment this summer and gain professional experience. You can spend your summer designing ads that target the college market, editing artwork, or copy editing and managing the workflow of the Production Department. Available Positions
• DESIGN ASSISTANTS •
Are you the person who sits down at a restaurant and starts dissecting the font used on the menu? If so, this is the opportunity for you. Design Assistants will focus heavily on designing and altering advertisements targeting the college market. Design experience is preferred, but not required. Extensive training on graphic design principles, typography and Mac-based design programs will be provided prior to the start of the internship. This position requires creative individuals who have an interest in advertising and graphic design.
• GRAPHIC EDITING ASSISTANTS •
Graphic Editing Assistants will be supporting the design process this summer. This position will focus on scanning and editing artwork in an efficient manner. There will also be some advertisement design included. Experience with Adobe Photoshop is required. Extensive training on our system processes will be provided. If you have a strong background and interest in Adobe Photoshop and graphic editing, then this is the position for you!
• PUBLISHING ASSISTANTS •
Do your friends affectionately refer to you as a perfectionist? Do you cringe when someone uses incorrect grammar? Publishing Assistants will be responsible for organizing and managing the workflow of the department. They will also be copy editing advertisements, proofing layouts and ensuring quality control standards are met. Publishing Assistants will go through extensive training on our client database and various processes. This position requires strong organizational skills and is perfect for detail-oriented individuals.

The Details
- Paid summer internship
- Approximately 25 internship positions available
- Interviews will be held in our Chapel Hill, NC office unless otherwise noted
- Extensive training will be provided in May 2012
- Internship will take place in our Chapel Hill office and will run through mid-August
- Fall 2012 work may be available based on summer performance
- Seminars on portfolio and resume building, along with team-building activities, will be offered throughout the summer

• PROJECT DESIGN SPECIALIST •
This a 16 week contract position best suited for alumni/recent graduates with an interest in graphic design, editing, advertising, publishing, and customer service.
The Project Design Specialist is responsible for assisting with the creation of consumer guides for campus telephone directories and student planners. Candidate will focus heavily on creating print advertisements, making changes to advertisements, graphics editing, assembling and proofing layouts, and working closely with customers on artwork questions and corrections.
This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, self-motivation, and an ability to respond to multiple challenges in a deadline-oriented environment. Strong verbal & interpersonal communication skills are a must. Design experience (including experience with Macs and Adobe programs) is preferred; however, training will be provided.
Candidate must be available to work Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm in our office in Chapel Hill, NC.
Training: May 14, 2012 – May 25, 2012 (Limited hours)
Contract Dates: Starting May 29, 2012, Ending September 7, 2012
