Overview

Have you been searching for a fast-paced, professional, hands-on internship with a track record of molding successful business professionals? The internship program begins with an expense-paid training at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where more than 700 students from across the country will learn the skills needed to succeed throughout the summer.

Training

The UD summer sales experience begins with a weeklong training program on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. You will have the opportunity to get to know the team members and managers that you will be working with throughout the summer. You will learn how to interact in the business world and, most importantly, how to succeed! UD will pay for your accommodations during training as well as round-trip airfare or gas expense. Accommodations include lodging, transportation, most meals and all training supplies. UD Training is the first step to your success over the summer. You will spend your days learning sales and marketing theory from the business professionals who will be supporting you throughout the summer. Role-playing and team-building activities ensure confidence in your abilities by the end of the week. The entire staff at UD is involved in training to make sure you understand each departmentís role in the selling process. Get ready for a motivational experience where you will build friendships and have fun! Some training topics include:

  • Time and Territory Management
  • Advertising and Marketing Theory

The Summer

Following this comprehensive program, students return to their college market where they will meet with local business owners to develop an advertising campaign that will help them better reach the college community. Students will be empowered to work independently during the day while having a team to provide ideas and support. Everyday you can count on having two team meetings. The morning meeting begins with a team discussion of the day's activities and strategies. Each person will share their schedule and personal goal with their team. Following the morning meeting, you will begin working through your territory independently by interacting with business owners face-to-face. The first few weeks of the summer will be dedicated to saturating your territory and moving from business to business in order to reach every opportunity and meet a wide range of clients. The weeks following will be dedicated to appointments you have made with these clients where you will discuss the needs of the business and develop marketing plans to reach the college market with advertising. We provide marketing materials, a sales kit and business cards to make each presentation highly professional. The day ends with the afternoon meeting where your team will recap the day, share their best experiences and report the achievement of their goals. The summer is exciting as no two days bring the same experience. You will always be meeting new clients, setting appointments, working through your territory and delivering top-notch marketing presentations. It takes a great deal of self-motivation and provides incredible hands-on training in business negotiation.

An internship with UD is hard work, but during your experience you will learn more about sales, marketing and business than in any class you will ever take in college. This internship enables students to take their classroom knowledge and put it into practical application in the college market. Compensation

This job will make you rich...and you'll make some money too. What do we mean? The riches come to you through a unique hands-on experience. A summer with UD will sharpen your communication skills and enhance your desire to succeed in any professional environment. You'll be paid weekly in this commission-based program.
